I'm working with a vocalist on a track and keep returning to the old issue of how to get "wideness" or "depth" in a chorus. This shift from the opening few lines to the chorus is obvious here:

At 22 seconds, the vocals clearly become more prominent. My knee-jerk reaction is to layer the vocals and pan one left, other other right, and delay by a few milliseconds (5? 15?). Or use dimension expander? Chorus? Stereo widener? Or keep it mono and just layer? Won't phasing issues pop up?
I get different answers all the time and wonder what kinds of ideas might be out there. Mixing vocals is often the toughest part of a mix because you want to showcase them without over-processing. Thanks!
