hey all!
fairly new producer here but loving the grind and have a few questions regarding overall levels as I'm trying to level up my mix a bit. for reference, i'm using ableton 9.
-
what is the general process when it comes to properly setting levels and mixing your tracks? is it throwing a utility on the end of each track as well as a limiter on the master (@ -6db or so) so your finished product hits around -6db on the master before the mastering stage? or instead do you use the orange faders on each track [as opposed to utility]?
-
what are the key differences / usage cases for faders / utility / limiters? from what I've read it seems like limiters are usually only used on the master and that utility has a bit more versatility in terms of what you want to do with it
i realize that everyone has a different method but any responses are appreciated!
thanks all, and happy thursday =D
