I just started doing /r/songaweek because I want to improve my a) song/lyric writing and b) production. This was my submission for this week.
I've done a lot of ableton courses and stuff but this is the first time I've tried to make a completely electronic song, and I wanted to get input from the knowledgeable people of /r/edmproduction (even though this isn't EDM). I designed almost all these sounds this week, though one or two were left over from other projects and I did use a few pre-recorded samples that I threw some processing on (the drum samples in the second verse, some of the hat sounds, the snare at the end).
-What could I have done better with sound design/mixing/etc? Mistakes are how we learn so tell me my mistakes plzzzzzz.
*Bonus q: I had literally everything except vocals in a bus that a side-chain compressor just on the low end. Is this wise?
