I've been producing a lot of trap recently but I am still kind of new to this genre. So I created this trappy drop but I want a good build up to the drop. In my process I created a melodic buildup but it doesn't merge that well with the drop. This is probably because I use a lot of chords for the build up but the drop doesn't really use (the same) chords.
Now I know this is possible because Zomboy remixed Don't let me down by the Chainsmokers:

Why does it work so well in his song? Does it have to do with which chords he chose? Or does it have to do with the kind of sounds he used? Or just with the composition? Anyway I am really curious as I want to finish a trap song once and not get stuck after finishing the dorp everytime.
