I am a beginner (1 month in) with 3 hours to spare each day on learning and producing. After doing some research, it was highly suggested that a beginner should explore and produce in a variety of genres. What if I have a specific style in mind? I am not talking about a general genre such as house. I know exactly what elements I want to borrow from a variety of genres. I have an idea of what mood I want to create.
How should I go about my path? Should I learn and produce in a variety of genres? Should I only learn and produce in the selected genres I would like to borrow elements from? Or should I learn and produce that very specific style I would like to create?
