Hi. I recently started learning about Compression, so I still possess a rather limited understanding of how it operates, but the Make-up Gain parameter is one that I find confusing. I'm using Ableton, so the stock Compressor has an automatic Make-up Gain control, but I notice when I enable it, it makes the signal too loud. So I'm wondering is it better to manually adjust the output? If so how can I calculate precisely how much Output to add to my signal rather than relying on the Make-up Gain which doesn't seem to be very accurate? Thank you.
