I just started learning sound design and was wondering how you guys learned to make your own sounds. Did you guys just mess around and come up with cool sounds or is there like a guide on how to make a certain sound? I know sub basses are usually created using sine waves, so does that mean a lead, bass, strings, and other synths have to use a specific waveform for it to sound good? For example, are leads usually created using saw waves? Lastly, any tips about design would be greatly appreciated.
