TLDR: group your sliced up MIDI clips and then press CTRL+G for further slicing/macro grouping.

I made a 4 bar pad and then split it up into 64th notes to later add FX to(serum macros FTW). I remade a 4 bar loop of cutting and pasting. I made sure that all of my clips were making contact throughout to re-fill in the 4 bars. Silences between clips will be left as such. Have not tried to see what happens when you have multiple midi clips from different instruments combined, though.
