So I've created multiple versions of an FM bass in FM8 using different envelope shapes for the modulators. I now want to layer a sub underneath. My question is, how do I recreate the movement in the mid range at sub level using a sine wave. As it stands I've tried both layering the sub as flat notes underneath which provides power but not a whole lot of clarity, and using another sine wave to slightly FM the first with a matching envelope, which sounds good but creates a fair bit of mud. What is your method for achieving this?
