Hello.
I'm a longtime musician and and for past year or so have been started to study producing. So far i have been using FL studio but im getting more serious and have tested out Ableton live Lite fore past couple weeks.
I have decided to change from FL studio to ableton so i need to buy the licence. I also decided to buy a real pair of studio monitors. So far i have been rolling with 10 year old pair of M-audio AV40 speakers. I have budgeted something like 1500e for these upgrades. Also would fancy a midi controller with knobs and pads but its not absolute necessity since i have Kurzweil PC3K. I still think a midi controller would improve my workflow.
So how much money should i put into the monitors? I would like to buy full version of ableton live but if its really important to put more money to the monitors then i guess i will settle with the regular one. Its worth noting that i do get student discount on ableton (-40%)
Come to think of it i also miss a proper studio table so i need also some kind of legs for the monitors to get them to ear level or then i could use some recommendations on the proper studio tables also. Aand the last thing is that i also need microphone for vocals and outdoors recording.
I have been thinking the cost of each upgrade to be something like this:
- Monitors 500-600e
- Ableton 150-350e
- Midi Controller 100-200e
- Microphone for vocals 100e
- Microphone for outdoors recording (nature sounds etc) XXXe?
- Studio table 200e?
What im trying to ask is what kind of setup would you buy with 1000-1500e if i want to produce mostly trance or record myself playing piano and singing?
This is what i already have:
- Synth/current midi controller: Kurzweil PC3K
- Headphones: Beuerdynamic DT 770 pro
- Audio interface : Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 2nd Gen.
- Really shitty regular flat work table which almost doesnt fit my two display monitors well enough
- Ipad (with some synths inside like animoog and nave)
- Win 10 PC (Double 24inch displays, i7 4790k, 1tb hdd + 2x 250gb ssd + 16gb ddr3)
- Basicly no other software than Sylenth + FL studio + Massive
Edit: I'm also really interested about omnisphere 2. What i would like to know about it does it have good orchestral or grand piano patches also? I would like to try to make few movie tracks and i wonder if omnisphere 2 would be good for this kind of stuff also or should i just go for philharmonic instead. Its just omnisphere 2 is so cool for trance and well basicly anything
