I'm curious what genres you guys think are the easiest for those who are still starting out or fairly new and aren't that well versed in music theory or coming up with melodies.
Obviously I know most of the time it depends more on how deep you want to go with said genre, but as an example of what I mean, I've made an acid house track before just by turning on my TD-3 (TB-303 clone) and Drumbrute (drum machine), making a couple drum patterns and a single 1 bar loop on the TD-3, throwing on some reverb and delay in my DAW, and then just twiddling the knobs for the next 5 minutes.
Sure it wasn't great acid house, but it was acid house all the same and a completed track. And I didn't exactly have to spend a long time learning to be able to make said track.
But on the flip side, something like classical music or even a lot of mainstream EDM, even the most simple not-so-great tracks need quite a lot of work.
Some other "low barrier to entry" genres I can think of would be things like minimal house or minimal techno.
What about you guys? Can any of you think of any other genres with relatively low barriers to entry?
Basically I'm looking for things where melodies are simple and repetitive and there isn't much arrangement needed, so I could get a bit of practice in actually sticking to a specific genre rather than just making a weird mish-mash like most of my music.
