Hi friends,
I have this homework assignment that’s throwing me for a loop. It’s differentiating between monophony, polyphony, and homophony. I was able to identify the samples so I could research what they were (a Gregorian chant, string quartet, a sonata, ect) but that didn’t really help. I’m a beginner at this! My score was a 4/6, but I don’t know which ones are correct.
- Kunst Der Fuge: Contrapunctus 1 - Andante Sostenuto (Canadian Brass, Ronald Romm, Frederick Mills, & David Ohanian)
My Answer: Polyphony
- Puer Qui Natus Est Nobis - Introitus/In Nativitate Domini ad Missam in die (Hubert Dopf S.J. & Choralschola Der Wiener Hofburggkapelle)
My Answer: Monophony
- Symphony No. 4 in F Minor, Op. 36: I. Andante Sostenuto (Claude Abbado & Chicago Symphony Orchestra)
My Answer: Monophony
- String Quartet No. 12 in F major, Op. 96 ‘American’: ||. Lento
My Answer: Homophony
- Violin Sonata in A Major, FWV 8 - Transcr. for Cello and Piano: IV (Mischa Maisky & Martha Argerich)
My Answer: Homophony
- Tant Que Vivray (Ensemble Clément Janequin & Dominique Visse)
My Answer: Homophony
Any and all help is appreciated!
