Pretty much what the title says. I've been doing music production on and off for several years now, trying to get more serious with it.
My main problem aside from needing more motivation is finding a balance between:
-
Getting the right hardware/controllers that work for me since I hate inputting notes/doing post-production off my computer. I want to get as much expression as possible playing off the hardware itself so I don't have as much to do in post-production.
-
Budgeting and using the minimal amount of equipment.
-
Portability is optional, not a deal breaker but it'd be really nice to have that freedom to take it away from my studio and work elsewhere.
Right now my setup's running off my rMBP, audio-technica m40x for studio headphones, a pretty basic 49-key midi keyboard (no bells and whistles just a keyboard), and a novation launchpad mini. I've watched some musicians review the seaboard block and they seemed to like it for the most part. Was wondering if anyone else had similar experiences, and if so would you/would you not recommend it and why?
Thanks!
