is that from experience and hearing ? ( like everything, but I mean.. )
I feel there is an "average" for things to sound "mix-able" ( "I mean there is" )
how do you set your drums to hit, almost in the same range/feeling/volume as the average genre you aim ? ( and design them/shape them ? how did you create them on a basic view ? )
( for being mix-able or just sounding in the same blood as a "well mastered track" for not sounding dull without volume change)
do you just copy a track drum shape(tone/texture) and volume ?
do you adjust attack of your drums in the end ? or compress / limit them, while producing ?
my process is tweaking until it sound good in the end.. and compare my track against another
but I want to know about yours ; would be glad to read your way of doing these type of thing :) ' gain staging drums '
