Hi
As the title said my set-up is getting old. Its a 27inch imac from 2010. It worked pretty well up until a year or so ago when the screen decided to turn off intermittently.
I have resolved to get a new imac (together with some other gear) but I have a few concerns. Since 2010, I have to a degree fallen out of love with apple. I have had two dodgey mac book pros and have just generally been unimpressed with their releases. That being said, my imac and ipad have been excellent. (Despite some incredible frustrating issues in the last year or so with some of my projects)
The first question is, is a mac still the producers weapon of choice? If so, which one shall I go for? Ideally future proof! I was looking at this http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/buy-mac/imac?product=MK452B/A&step=config# (i don't need 27inch)
Secondly I have the following speakers: Yahmaha msp7. I have never been very impressed with them, everything is too clickly. So, what speakers should I get? and should I get a sub? do I need a sub?
I used to make music every night, now uni is over, career takes all my time and I can't bring myself to spend my limited time working through frustrating technical problems instead of making music.
In terms of budget, slightly open ended, happy to consider all options.
Please let me have your thoughts.
