So as a little exercise, I tried to reproduce a a growl bass I made in serum, but with operator and only stock ableton FX . I started with an FM bass with some movement and waveshaping, bounced the audio then using stock filters, distortion, chorus, etc. and I noticed that some filter shapes didn't provide the same amount of vowel movement as serums. For example, I used a high resonance high pass and a peak moving in the same direction and at the same frequencies but the vowel effect was no where near as pronounced and in some cases almost completely inaudible. I even tried compressing the holy hell out of the sound both before and after to see if that would help to no avail. Can someone help shed some light on this for me or just make a point about something that I'm being a dip about? Thanks.
