They're extremely valuable to ensure you don't make the same boring 4 chords everyone else uses when you realize "shit my sequence sounds just like this other song".
Tools like Cthulu, FL's chord helper (which I still use even though I never produce with FL anymore), Cubase's chord helpers are all tools that will help you massively with inspiration. Especially FL's sequencing tools in the piano roll, namely the ARP creator, which Cthulu has a similar thing in a 303ish layout.
Don't be afraid to use these. Even to shamelessly rip these chords off and make your own sequence that works.
