So I've got a few questions:
I've never once touched any sort of digital music-making hardware or software, nor do I know any of the terminology. If one under-experienced, yet creative and inspired person interested in making music - such as myself - where to actually want to begin making music, where would one start? Is one laptop, a good pair of headphones, maybe a keyboard and a good software enough for starters? I mean this purely from the technical standpoint and I am not inquiring on music theory or anything of the sort.
I'm entirely aware people then get all sorts of gadgets, which I repeat, I don't know their names so I won't even try to name them (but I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about) and then get even more. I've seen crazy set-ups of some big (or not so big) producers out there and I can't help but think of the word overkill. Which brings me to my next questions: what exactly does having maybe thousands of dollars worth of hardware grant you as a producer over those who have a lot less plugged into their laptop? Are there certain sounds that limited hardware cannot achieve at all, consequently blocking your creativity?
