So I've been producing for a bit over a year now, and I still struggle to make melodies that sound like they move.
For example, the melody that Martin Garrix produced in his ADE Masterclass along with the chords seems like it's "going somewhere"

Any tips on making your melodies move? I have a feeling that moving melodies that sound huge utilize the 5th's a lot and somehow compliment chords can achieve this.... and also rhythm
Do you know of any foolproof ways of extracting a moving melody from a solid bassline or chord progression?
